Mission
- To raise awareness within the Town of Yorktown of how residents can support the Cool Cities Yorktown initiative to combat global warming.
Recommendations

- Expand the current Yorktown portion of the Westchester County Green Mapping project as a means to encourage greater involvement and information sharing about green resources.
- Establish Eco-Teams within Yorktown to rollout the “Low Carbon Diet” program within the community.
Out of scope
- Publicity of Green Yorktown events
Talking points
- Our process – Members of the Education Committee met on 1/17/08 to identify Committee’s purpose and missions and to develop initial recommendations to the larger group. As a starting point, we reviewed the work done by the county’s Global Warming Task Force and the Education Committee page of the GY powerpoint distributed at the 1/5/08 GY meeting. We identified potential audiences of the Education Committee’s outreach activities, which include town government, businesses, schools, households, houses of worship, service clubs and organizations, homeowners associations and individual residents. The committee will engage in educational activities directed to any and all of these audiences to support the overall objectives of the CoolCity Yorktown / Green Yorktown organization.
Dependencies
- Need for close coordination with CCY/GY webmaster and CCY/GY publicity committee, developing excellent two-way communication / liaisons with the identified local organizations.
